Life in the fast lane

In our fast paced, ever changing hi-tech world, it is increasingly difficult to take time out to relax, appreciate and enjoy life.  Stress management issues are on the rise.   The media certainly recognizes the issue, even if possible solutions are not clearly identified.  People need to take charge of their lives and do the necessary damage control before they reach breaking point.

We find ourselves constantly juggling our professional and private lives; various things are constantly tugging at our minds and consciousness and making demands on our health and well-being.  A veil that causes us to ignore a very important factor of the equation of life, us, while potentially wreaking havoc in our bodies, minds and spirits.

We need to spend more time nurturing ourselves by making our total well being and fulfillment a priority.  We limit our ability to produce and function by constantly operating on low energy or diminished enthusiasm and reaping our loved ones and ourselves off the loving and strong relationship that we potentially could have.

Commit time to yourself and the things you love and value.  A seemingly simple thing to do often turns out to be a challenge for a lot of us because we are usually last on our own list.

Here are few of my recommendations:

* Engage in things that nurture your body, mind and sole

 * Get plenty of rest and eat a balanced and nutritious diet.

* Start a journal and use it to reflect on and air your feelings, make notable achievements, changes you would like to make or your dreams

 * Share your feelings and thoughts with a trusted confidant.

 * Drink plenty of water and get enough exercise.

 * Write down what you value most about yourself and take steps to further build this area.

In the mist of all the clamouring and chaos in our lives, it is important to take time to be still by loving, acknowledging and honouring who we are.  You are special and you are certainly worth your time.

"Never let a problem to be solved be more important than a person to be loved" - Barbara Johnson
